First sleepover

Saturday, July 26th, 2008

Tonight’s a big night.  Ben will have his first sleepover when a friend from pre-school stays over.  We’re headed to the Durham Bulls game, staying for the fireworks and then sleepover time.

Our boy is getting so big…

UPDATE:  The night went great.  The boys were amazingly well behaved, slept like rocks and then got up this morning and actually played quietly for 45 minutes on their own.  Amazing.  Only disappointment is that there weren’t fireworks at the game.  They were Friday night.  C’est la vie.

A visit from Paul

Monday, July 21st, 2008

This past weekend we had a visitor here in Cary.  Laura’s father, Paul, flew in from Rockford to spend some time with us.  It was great to see him and only wish he could have visited longer.  The kids love him, too.  It’s so cute to hear Jack say, “Ganpa O Dee”.

A rainbow

Thursday, July 10th, 2008

Yesterday Ben brought home two cupcakes from a party at preschool.  He chose two (one for Jack, one for him) that had vibrant, dark blue icing.  It was the kind of icing that stains anything that contacts it.  Teeth, skin, clothes, the table, the plate upon which it sits.  Well, this evening, twenty-four hours after it was consumed, more evidence was, um, er, freshly discovered.

Ben pooped a nice shade of Yale blue, while Jack, who’s insides aren’t quite fully developed yet, defecated a more fern green.  Anyone know if Brilliant Blue FCF has any lasting side effects?
