Penchuk.com

I’ve had the Penchuk.com domain for over 5 years now and I’ve never really done much to promote it to search engines. I’ve submitted it a few times through free online services but that never did anything. Then I switched to WordPress as my content engine and voila. Now, search “penchuk” through Google and this site gets the #1 ranking. I always wondered how if you searched for the root of the domain, it didn’t come up. I guess I don’t need to wonder anymore.

Actually, here are a few other search engines:

• Yahoo – #1
• A9 – not on the first 3 pages of results
• Ask.com – not on the first 3 pages of results
• MSN – not on the first 3 pages of results
• AltaVista – #1
• Excite – #6
• Lycos – not on the first 3 pages of results

So, I know which search engines are my favorites. Ha!

If you’ve ever been here before, you can see that I’ve made a major overhaul of the ol’ website. The big change is that I’ve moved to new blogging software to help me manage things. I’m still working out some of the kinks (like how to password protect pictures) but things are looking pretty good, if you ask me.

Regarding photos, I’ve got a great little plugin for displaying photos but I’ve disabled it until I can resolve the password issue. Stay tuned for updates.

Just in case my legions of daily readers of Penchuk.com were wondering what was going on here, I wanted to let you know that the site is currently in transition. I’m trying to figure out how the new version is going to work. Obviously, all of the old content from years past isn’t available. I’m not sure that I’m going to bring it back (it was getting a little overwhelming). Just hang tight and I’ll get the site back to the “new normal”.
